In the 38th at Anfield, Liverpool are dominating, but somehow only up 1-0. I wish I could claim it was due to Tim Howard, but it’s more due to horrible finishing and lack thereof by Babel, Kuyt, and others.

Unsurprisingly, the actual goal was off a great finish by Torres. Yikes! Gerrard knocks a patented volley off Howard’s post…

  2. KirkBhoy says:

    What about FCD v Chivas?

  3. clint dempsey says:

any sopcast, etc. data on that chivas game?

Fulham land Inter Milan prospect Muscatiello – March 30, 2008

Fulham have swooped for one of Italy’s brightest young talents, Luca Muscatiello.

The 16 year-old midfielder has spent the past five years with Inter Milan and been likened to Italy and AC Milan star Andrea Pirlo.

Muscatiello has settled quickly at Fulham and is convinced he’s made the right decision for his career, says Controcampo.

MLS clubs rival Sparta Prague for Villa’s Berger – March 30, 2008

Sparta Prague face competition from MLS clubs for Aston Villa attacker Patrik Berger.

The former Liverpool star is off contract in June and while he has expressed an ambition to return to Sparta, the Czech Republic veteran also has offers to move to the United States at the end of the season.

  5. eric says:

Berger fits the profile, i.e. that he’s out of contract in the summer and available on free transfer. His injury record looks pretty troubling for a winger with several major knee surgeries and he’s 34, but he did play almost 200 matches for Liverpool.

  6. It’s River V Arsenal, actually.

  7. j1 says:

newcastle is starting to play well 4-1 win against tottenham

  8. j1 says:

torres has to be the best forward in the world right now

  9. beckster says:

Newcastle’s form is not good news for Reading who have to play them next week.

  10. DCM says:

better than Cristiano Ronaldo? Are you sure about that one?

  11. dano says:

I would be, as Cristiano plays on the wing.

  12. j1 says:

    ronaldo’s more of a winger

  13. Original Aaron says:

    Liverpool/Everton final score?

  14. DCM says:

I’m with you on the winger aspect versus striker.

  15. DCM says:

    It ended 1-0 Liverpool.

  16. eric says:

Agreed. Ronaldo is the best midfielder, and probably best player in the world. But he ain’t a forward.

If someone with GolTV wants to make the case for Luis Fabiano, but I’d definitely take Torres over Rooney, Trezeguet, ZLatan, Huntelaar’s 30 goals at Ajax, or any of Madrid’s 3. Plus, the elite forwards of the last few years – Drogba, Eto, Henry are all having down years.

  17. Chase says:

Despite an uninspiring 2nd half, Liverpool takes all three points, it should give us a bit of momentum going into the Emirates on Wednesday, I loved Neville acting like a baby when he was substituted, also thought Moyes bungled by not having a substitute striker (Johnson, Anichebe) to either partner with Yakubu or replace him in the last 15 minutes…

  18. Original Aaron says:

    Thanks DCM

  19. Steve says:

Does anyone else check on here way too often secretly hoping every time to see “Red Bulls sign the answer to all their problems!”

  20. Patrick says:

What channel is telefutura on time warner cable? I can not find it.

  21. Q says:

I don’t know why Moyes didn’t start a 4-4-2 with Yak and Anichebe up front. It reminded me of when the US played and out forward looked lost up front by himself.

  22. kpugs says:

Just wanted to pop in and say Colorado 4-0 L.A.

  23. NYRB says:

I heard on FSC today “Super Sunday Plus” that NYRB will sign an English defender who used to play in Scotland.

  24. Jeremy says:

Looks like about 10 people in Dallas.

  25. NYRB says:

I have it on Chanel 68

  26. Chase says:

Anyone else see this tidbit about Michael Bradley on the BBC’s daily Gossip Column:

“Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is ready to take on Everton in a £4.5m battle for Heerenveen’s American midfielder Michael Bradley. (The People)”

Both clubs would be great for Bradley, as he could challenge for immediate playing time in central midfield…

  27. j1 says:

Who are your top three forwards in the world?

    In my opinon

    torres,luis fabiano, and eto’o

  28. j1 says:

dallas up 1-0 at halftime goal by toja

  29. Chase says:

    Based purely on this season:

    1. Torres

    2. Adebayor

    3. Raul/Trezeguet/Toni/Luis Fabiano/Benzema

    Last Season

    1. Drogba

    2. Van Nistelrooy

    3. Totti (if he counts)

If you argue best pure goal scorer, I think there is no doubt that it is Ronaldo, as much as that makes me want to throw-up.

BTW, Madrid is ripping Sevilla to shreds in the 2nd Half…

  30. j1 says:

the only thing with adebayor is that he hasn’t scored in a while but if he was on form I would agree with you

  31. eric says:

Galindo ties it for Chivas 1-1 in the 84th scoring a poacher’s delight off a possession error by the Dallas backline.

  32. j1 says:

    dallas and chivas tie

  33. eric says:

Word is that Carlos Ruiz sprained ligaments in his knee and is out for a yet-to-be-determined time. Gals are a wreck. But on the plus side, at least the Fish wasn’t flopping at the end of the game for once!

  34. Eric says:

Q, Anichebe, AJ and Vaughn were either injured or ill and could not make it, so Yakubu was it for Moyes. Add the season ending injury to Tim Cahill, and the Toffies were pretty punchless on offense.

  35. Jones says:

” heard on FSC today “Super Sunday Plus” that NYRB will sign an English defender who used to play in Scotland.

    Posted by: NYRB | March 30, 2008 at 03:09 PM ”

Hm, last night on the fsc mls saturday, bretos said we were looking at Innes from Gretena, but he is scottish. You sure they said English?

    This is confusing.

  36. Pete says:

I can’t believe everyone sleeping on Totti. He is somewhat handicapped in the discussion because Roma don’t use him (or anyone) as what you would consider a traditional forward, but I would rank him as in the top three players in the world, behind Ronaldo and Messi (when all are healthy, anyway). He is definitely the best player in Italy, the only argument that can be made against him this year is the time he has missed due to injury. He is, hands down, the best passing forward in the world.

  37. Bob says:

Nice to see Real Madrid get a win. Was beginning to wonder if they would ever win another game.

Ives, could you explain the PSG Coupe de France banner controversy? I understand the nature of the insult, but apparently there are talks about punishing the club and I am curious to know more about this.

  38. Bob says:

Pete, you would take Totti over Kaka?

  39. j1 says:

  41. gimmi says:

    Has anyone seen sexy football?

    Ruud Gullit

  42. MemRook says:

BTW, I really don’t like this new “Next” and “Previous” feature on the bottom of our comments. It rather superfluous and kind of annoying to have to navigate our comments in such a way in order to read anything. I liked it much better when you could open a thread and just scroll down to the bottom or the top. Just my opinion. Still love the site, Ives. You do all of us a great service.

  43. Pete says:

“Pete, you would take Totti over Kaka?

    Posted by: Bob”

Yep, definitely this season, and in general, I do like Totti better as an attacking player. Once again, because Totti doesn’t play a traditional position or in a traditional formation it’s hard to compare him to other players, but he is unquestionably the maestro of the most attractive (and quite possibly the best) strike force in Italy.

Now, if I were to pick one to start a squad with, I’d obviously have to go with Kaka due to his age, but that’s a whole other debate.
