MLS wasn't the only team to lose something during All-Star week.
Manchester United forward Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez will miss the next two weeks of preseason preparations after suffering a concussion during the club's practice session on Tuesday. Hernandez, who was hospitalized as a result of the concussion, missed the Red Devils' 4-0 victory over the MLS All-Star team on Wednesday night.
Hernandez's concussion will also force him to miss Manchester United's preseason friendly versus Barcelona on Saturday, though manager Sir Alex Ferguson said there were no plans to use him against the reigning European champions in an effort to rest the Mexican striker.
Here are more stories from Thursday:
PSG ON VERGE OF LANDING PASTORE FOR RECORD DEAL
Paris Saint-Germain are on the brinking of signing Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore for a record deal. PSG are near finalizing a deal with Palermo for Pastore worth an estimated $64.3 million, an amount which would mark the biggest transfer fee in Ligue 1 history. PSG recently signed Serbia national team defender Milan Bisevac and French internationals Jeremy Menez and Blaise Matuidi.
PSG ACQUIRE JUVENTUS' CISSOKHO
Just because Paris Saint-Germain is spending a large portion of its transfer piggy bank on Javier Pastore, that doesn't mean the club is done spending. PSG has acquired Mali midfielder Mohamed Sissokho from Juventus on a three-year deal. Sissokho was presented by PSG coach Leonardo on Thursday.
DIOUF SUSPENDED FIVE YEARS BY SENEGAL FEDERATION
El-Hadji Diouf's time with Senegal's national team could be over. The 30-year-old Diouf has been banned for five years by the Senegalese Federation for angry comments he made in response to its claims that he failed to appear for a disciplinary hearing. Senegal's federation wanted to hold the hearing to discuss comments made by Diouf in which he stated that African soccer is corrupt. Diouf's suspension could be lifted should he appear for a hearing with the federation.
Upset that you won't see Hernandez play Barcelona on Saturday? How do you see PSG doing with the likes of CIssokho and Pastore? Think Diouf was out of line with the comments he made?
