A battle of unbeaten English Premier League teams in November is the kind of match-up fans dream of, but the two teams ready to take part in that battle aren't the teams many would have envisioned before the season began.

First-place Manchester City takes on the biggest surprise of the Premier League season, Newcastle, in the weekend's most enticiing match-up. It might not have the big-name attraction of some other high-profile match-ups, but it will be a telling contest about both unbeatens.

The more high-profile match-up of the weekend will be in London, where Chelsea will take on Liverpool. The Blues are in dire need of points as manager Andres Villas Boas faces pressure to produce results while Liverpool badly needs results to avoid falling too far behind the pack challenging for places in the Premier League's Top Four.

England isn't the only league that will feature quality battles. Napoli takes on Lazio in a star-studded affair, while the Mexican League playoffs also get underway.

The MLS Cup Final will have its place among the weekend's premier matches as well, with the Los Angeles Galaxy looking to complete a dream season against an underdog Houston side looking to finish off a late-season hot streak with another championship.

  1. Alison says:

As a Newcastle and a Galaxy fan, this could potentially be one of the best weekends of my life.

  2. TomG says:

Jozy on ESPN3 again! Love the Three!

  3. malkin says:

So is ESPN actually showing these games just b/c of Jozy? I believe it’s the only Dutch game on all weekend.

Figure it would be tough to do something like that, but what do I know…

  4. bryan says:

possibly, but ESPN Deportes has shown Dutch games for awhile now. So ESPN has always had the feeds.

  5. Charles says:

Was this a sarcastic joke ?

“The MLS Cup Final will have its place among the weekend’s premier matches as well”

  6. malkin says:

Ahh, that makes sense as to why it would be easy for them to do.

  7. atletico man says:

He said it would have its place, not that it was one of them…

  8. Rlw2020 says:

Any idea of how to watch the mls cup in the uk.. On the road this weekend

  9. mattyice says:

    It’s on ESPN3.

  10. TomG says:

For a U.S audience? Of course it has it’ among the premier matches. Unless you’re a total Eurosnob.

  11. wides says:

Chelsea vs Liverpool is also being replayed on Fox before or after whatever NFL game is on Fox that day.

For me in Minneapolis, that means it’s on at 2pm ET

  12. Citronomics says:

Norwich v. Arsenal very entertaining. Fluid stuff from both sides. Norwich goal after Metsersacker goes down like a wet piece of spaghetti trying to challenge Morrison.

  13. 99 says:

    Or even a partial Eurosnob.
