The Montreal Impact had a lot to celebrate about in their MLS home opener, but winning their first game was not one of them.
Playing in front of a record crowd of 58,912 at Olympic Stadium, the Impact scored their first MLS goal and looked poised for victory before the Chicago Fire pulled level to secure a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Impact captain Davy Arnaud etched his name into the history books when he scored Montreal's first goal in the league off a cross from Sanna Nyassi in the 56th minute. Fire forward Dominic Oduro negated that headed finish 15 minutes later, getting on the end of a pass from Sebastian Grazzini and knocking it into the back of the net.
The draw marked the season opener for Chicago (0-0-1) and kept Montreal (0-1-1) winless through its first two games in MLS.
