Jamaica's lineup against the United States for the pair of World Cup qualifiers next month certainly won't be lacking speed.

Vancouver Whitecaps rookie Darren Mattocks and winger Dane Richards, and Colorado Rapids forward Omar Cummings were named to Jamaica's 24-man roster and will spearhead the attack for the Reggae Boyz in games in Kingston, Jamaica, on Sept. 7 and in Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 11. Other MLS players representing Jamaica include Montreal's Shavar Thomas, Toronto FC's Ryan Johnson and Dicoy Williams, Houston's Jermaine Taylor and JeVaughn Watson and Portland's Lovel Palmer.

The games will be the first between the two nations since last summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup, when the United States topped Jamaica in the quarterfinals 2-0 behind goals from Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey.

Here is the full Jamaica roster for the two matches:

GOALKEEPERS – Dwayne Miller (Syrianska), Jacomeno Barrett (Montego Bay United), Duwayne Kerr (Strommen).

DEFENDERS – Shavar Thomas (Montreal Impact), Dicoy Williams (Toronto FC), Adrian Mariappa (Reading), O'Brian Woodbine (Vaasan Palloseura), Jermaine Taylor (Houston Dynamo), Andrae Campbell (Nottodden), Nyron Nosworthy (Watford), Lovel Palmer (Portland Timbers).

MIDFIELDERS – Dane Richards (Vancouver Whitecaps), JeVaughn Watson (Houston Dynamo), Errol Stevens (Arnett Gardens FC), Rodolph Austin (Leeds United), Jason Morrison (Aaelsund), Ewan Grandison (Portmore United), Joel Senior (Harbour View)

FORWARDS – Darren Mattocks (Vancouver Whitecaps), Omar Cummings (Colorado Rapids), Kavin Bryan (Vicem Hai Phong), Ryan Johnson (Toronto FC), Luton Shelton (Karabukspor), Tramaine Stewart (Aaelsund)

    2-2 draw in Kingston

    3-1 US win in Columbus

  2. 4Everton says:

When do the US announce their roster?

  3. mikeandike says:

six points or Fire Bradley! this team is winning lucky once in a while with their bunker ball mentality against better teams and struggling to get results against CONCACAF minnows, but if we’re ever going to seriously compete, we need better passing and creativity-it’s all on the national team coach!

  4. Edwin says:

When are we going to announce our roster?

  5. quozzel says:

I have personally never seen a Jamaican team this stacked.

Cummings and Mattocks up top, Richards on the wing, and several more MLS and English Championship guys to draw from…the Jamaicans have always been blazers, but the technical skill of this bunch is well above and beyond what they’ve ever had before…they’ve always had athletes, now they have soccer players. Obviously they’re going to be missing Donovan Ricketts in goal something awful – but if Ricketts can get back to some kind of form in time for qualifying the Jamaicans could be a dark horse for that third slot in CONCACAF – and they could easily bite somebody like the USA if we take them lightly.

This series is not a slam-dunk for the USA. I’d be delighted with the aforementioned away tie and home win.

  6. Lorenzo says:

9 MLS players, MLS and concacaf are really helping each other. Region will become a lot better now that the USA is also on board.

  7. ryan says:

I think this Jamaican team has a real possibility of getting the third concacaf spot.

  8. Illmatic74 says:

As a Jamaican/American I am hoping for back to back draws.

  9. Francois says:

The technical ability of this group really isn’t that spectacular, I expect 6 points to be honest. If our team can actually play like it is capable of, we should get 6 points.

  10. Ricardo Fuller says:

Joel Senior. A Howard University/James Madison University and CAA-Third Team all conference pick. Good luck to them.

  11. HammEggs says:

Why not root for one win for each? Then each team gets 3 points rather than 2.

  12. suarez says:

USA will get torched in these games

  13. suarez says:

No Dempsey, no Bradley, retiring Donovan, who knows who will show up to play D. Bye bye Klinsy, I hope

  14. Jim in Atlanta says:

    Wtf are you talked about?

  15. jerp says:

“the Jamaicans have always been blazers”

    true indeed

  16. Jay says:

Dude is an idiot, pay him no attention.

  17. Rlw2020 says:

Ya what the feuke are you talked about!

As usual going to be a difficult squad to pick, A lot can change over the next few days but right now we might be with out demps or bradley. Still would expect 4-6 pts

  18. Shweazy says:

funny thing is this Jamaican team is not even close to their full potential.. they have the capability to be on par with US and Mexico if they can bring in the players from England like we did with our German connection players. Did you guys know that Ashley Young and Jermain Pennant are Jamaicans ? so is Danniel Sturridge and the new kid for Liverpool Sterling who starts on Liverpools wing. They have alot of options but thank God they are not bringing them in lol..

  19. CrispyST3 says:

    well done sir haha

  20. Yoreau Snaub says:

The US roster announcement was bought by Traffic Sports and is only viewable on pay-per-view Jamaican television

  21. weaksauce says:

hmmm a guy named suarez who probably lives in the US is saying were gonna get torched. So glad im not a mexican living in a country thats too advanced to be successful

  23. biff says:

I don’t think Jamaica will be easy, but I don’t see why all the concern if we are missing Dempsey and Bradley. Against Mexico were we missing six regular starters — Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, and Clarence Goodson (and seven, if you count Timothy Chandler) — and we achieved the Miracle of Mexico City. And, who knows, maybe we would not have won with all those starters. Personally, I would like to see Klinsmann reward those Mexico guys for their valliant effort by calling all of them back up for Jamaica, and any that are injured try out some new faces. I think that roster can beat Jamaica 2X next week.

  24. sly says:

Young/Sturridge are already cap tied to england but Sterling and Pennant arent. All that has to happenis for Hodgeson (sp) to ignore them for a little while longer and Jamaica will get them.

Sterlings mother is pressuring him to play for jamaica. Go mom!!!!

  25. Felix says:

I expect 3 points here in Columbus, but a draw in Kingston. They are very tough in their home stadium, known as “The Office”.
I’m hoping for full 6 points, but expecting 4 tops.

  26. Do I make you corny, baby? says:

When I saw MacAnuff torch Chelsea on the wing for Reading and Ian Darke said that he’s Jamaican, I was worried we’d have our hands full. But apparently, he retired from international football in 2005 at the age of 23!

  27. Fred says:

    Yea! *Shakes fist angrily*

Btw mike and ike broke up..

  28. slowleftarm says:

Other than Sterling, all of the players you mention were born and raised in England.

  30. Rory says:

Good news, a deal was made with “Uncle Mavis’ Television Network” which is availible to around 50 homes with a certain cable provider in the greater East St. Louis vacinity, Aurora Public Television, and on the Everything Super-Duper $400 a month package on Direct TV!

this brings the total viewership to about 55 people!

  31. Rory says:

Well this got a bit uncomfortable.

  32. Gnarls says:

Right, they don’t claim Jamaican nationality, but by FIFA rules a player whose parents or grandparents were born in Country A can play for Country A if they’re not already cap tied to Country B.

  33. Gnarls says:

    ATbM: Any Team but Mexico

  34. 2tone says:

Good roster for the Jamaicans, but I am not worried.

Johnson has the speed to keep up with any Jamaican, and if Chandler comes on board so does he as well as Lichaj.

    Should be two good games.

  35. Matthewbolt says:

Why would you retire international football, b4 you are at your peak?? Sometimes the decisions young footballers make, just dumbfound me… Just look at the Timothy Chandler escapade, I think he may come around, to US Soccer, but You know his teamates are not, going to welcome him in, with open arms.. After stiffing US Soccer and pulling out of 2 call-ups at the last hour…. If I were a teammate of his, it would be, hard to know, if he is… or ever will be; proud to wear the colors!

  36. IH says:

Shweazy you left off Scott Sinclair (Swansea), David Hoilett (QPR), Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (Arsenal), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Danny Simpson (New Castle), Aaron Lennon (Hotspurs), Marcus & Darren Bent etc. and a host of other little known players in top flight, Championship and league one.

The people who run our football aren’t real football people, they’re just now learning how to. ’till then we wallow in football morass….

  37. Hannibal4467 says:

    Lol good one :-)

  38. Hannibal4467 says:
