MLS Match Day: Your Running Commentary

The race for the playoff spots continues to heat up in Major League Soccer today, with a handful of key match-ups headlining today's league action.

D.C. United has traveled to Canada, and will take on the Montreal Impact in a clash of teams vying for fifth place in the East, and the playoff berth that goes with it. D.C. United is currently two points clear of Montreal, with three games in hand, and can create some more distance with a win on the road.

That won't be easy against an Impact side that has been rolling lately. Winners of five of their past six, the Impact will be tough to stop at Stade Saputo, though D.C. United's tough defense will have a chance.

In the Western Conference, Chivas USA will try to climb a step closer to a playoff place with a home win against a surging Seattle Sounders side. Dan Kennedy has been the league's best goalkeeper this season, and he is sure to be tested repeatly by a Sounders attack featuring Eddie Johnson and Fredy Montero.

What game is Fulham playing with Dempsey? It is becoming ridiculous. I can’t imagine where Dempsey goes at this point, but I can’t see him staying anymore. Jol knows his soccer, but not how to handle personal situations, like some other prominent Dutchmen in soccer.

  2. Helium-3 says:

Anyone know what channel on dish is the Impact – DCU game? I have Direct Kick but this game is not listed but I see tfhe NER at 7:30. This is the first time where the game is scheduled on Direct Kick but not listed on guide?

    Dam you dish friggin network!!

  3. fischy says:

That was the very definition of a lackluster effort by DC.

  4. Eric says:

Not that they are exactly related but the Red Sox just shipped freed up about 250 million dollars. Maybe this could help with Liverpool’s pursuit of Dempsey.

  5. 2ndsnares says:

    so many things went wrong

    that was a bradley-esque lineup for a must-not-lose match

i didnt mind the acquisition of tan / neal / pajoy / chabala mainly because we have enough talent surrounding them to balance their weaknesses

i NEVER would would have thot they’d see the field at the SAME time outside of a reserve league match

injuries + schedule congestion didnt force our hand to that extreme degree…

  6. NE Matt says:

Finally, the Revs roll out the starting lineup they have been waiting too since they signed Bengston and shipped out Shalrie:

  7. Eric says:

    Ryan Guy with a crackah.

  8. Nave says:

15 out of 15 points. All of a sudden Montreal are scary.

  9. NE Matt says:

And just like that, said lineup produces 2 quick goals!

  10. Hesyourlifelight says:

Then the Crew score 4 back. Before this game I think the most they scored in a game all season was 2 goals. Federico Higuain is the real deal.

  11. divers suck says:

Wow!! Seattle up on Chivas USA 3 nil in the 34th minute in S Cal!!!

  12. divers suck says:

I wonder if Dan Kennedy has ever given up 6 goals in a game?

  13. g-dub says:

Has Robin Frasier given up? Or lost trust of his team? He was supposed to be a defensive specialist.
