Tulsa freshman forward Christian Mata stole the show on Tuesday night, scoring two goals to help lead the Golden Hurricanes to a 2-0 upset win against No. 20-ranked Creighton in Oklahoma.
Mata opened the scoring in the 56th minute when he finished off a pass from Bryce Follensbee, then added his second in the 86th minute to help Tulsa improve to 6-3 on the season.
The victory wasn't the first upset win of the season for Tulsa, which handed New Mexico their only loss of the season earlier in the campaign.
Defending national champion North Carolina needed overtime to knock off upset-minded Wofford, 1-0. Sophomore midfielder Mikey Lopez scored the winner in the 103rd minute. Currently ranked No. 6 in the SBI Top 25, the Tar Heels had to battle for most of the match down a man after forward Andrew Craven drew a 16th-minute red card.
Both High Point and Cornell kept their records perfect with wins on Tuesday night, High Point edging William & Mary, 1-0, and Cornell thrashing Hartwick, 4-1.
