UEFA Champions League: A Look Ahead

By NICK IUELE

The second day of Match Day Three has quite the action packed schedule, featuring some of the top teams in the world. Spanish champion Real Madrid and German champion Borussia Dortmund, among others, highlight Wednesday games.

Real Madrid leads the Group D with six points after a pair of impressive victories, while Dortmund had a win and a draw, good for second in the group. A win for Dortmund could put them in the group driver’s seat, but Madrid is currently in better form and will give the Bundesliga title holders all they can handle. Cristiano Ronaldo is in fantastic goal-scoring form and will more than likely be a huge player in this match.

Manchester City and Ajax Amsterdam feature in the other matchup in group D and will be no less entertaining. The English champions suffered a loss to Real Madrid in Match Day One and tied Dortmund in Match Day Two, so all three points are crucial to moving out of the group stage.

AC Milan is in desperate need of a victory after settling for a single point in two favorable matchups to start UCL play, but Malaga is in great form and will not making things easy for the Italian giants. Milan is still finding themselves in Serie A, while Malaga is in third in La Liga and has only lost one match this season. Malaga leads the group with six points, and young star striker Isco will look to punish a vulnerable Milan defense.

Arsenal and Schalke square off in a clash of the top teams in Group B. Arsenal has already downed Montpellier and Olympiakos to earn all six points and the group league, while Jermaine Jones and Schalke trails by two points after a draw with Montpellier in Match Day Two. Arsenal will take a stronghold on the lead with all three points, but expect a great match as Schalke tries to translate their good Bundesliga form to UCL.
