The Ryan Nelsen era officially began in week one with a close loss to Toronto FC, but what will likely be remembered more as the first major step in Nelsen’s ascent as TFC head coach is his team’s win against Sporting Kansas City last Saturday.

TFC took it took the Eastern Conference powerhouse, impressing the big crowd at Rogers ┬áCenter and handing Sporting KC a 2-1 loss. The team’s strong showing, led by newcomers Rober Earnshaw and John Bostock, made them a strong pick for SBI MLS Team of the Week for Week Two.

Toronto FC beat out fellow Canadian sides Montreal and Vancouver for this week’s honor, doing so behind a strong team defensive effort and the attacking exploits of Earnshaw and Bostock.

What did you think of TFC’s performance in Week Two? Which MLS team impressed you the most last weekend?

That pitch looked like hot garbage and the atmosphere really didn’t look appealing. Say what you want about TFC, but the ambiance of their stadium, improve pitch quality and supporters are awesome. Why move venues?

Was it held at the Skydome because it was the season opener/larger crowd expected?

    • Michael says:

larger crowd and the BMO Field grass is unpredictable in the winter. It was nice on Saturday but today in Toronto its -3 Celsius. Booked skydome as a precaution since they could predict what the field would be like (it did look pretty bad)

    • Brad says:

they’d normally play at BMO but it isn’t winterized so as a precautionary measure, even though it was a beautiful day, they planned it for an indoor venue, thus the awful Rogers Centre.

      • Marc t says:

The building itself, from what I hear the pitch isn’t half bad at this time with the under heating but the water pipes for concessions and washrooms are a no go.

    • prizby says:

grass was fine at bmo field…it was 17 degree celcius; it is the piping for the rest of stadium not being winterized; they had issues a few years ago causing six digits worth of damage

  2. Michael says:

A pick of potential. I’m a huge TFC fan and I like what I see, but Vancouver had an incredibly solid performance and should be Western Conference contenders.

  3. MLSfan says:

lol, when was the last time TFC was SBI Team-Of-The-Week?

  4. Falsify says:

As a SKC fan this has been an embarrassing week.

  5. Montreal deserved it more. They won on the road, played a superb match against one of the leagues toughest home crowds. Plus I am a former Montrealer, so I have to vote against Toronto!

  6. Michael says:

I believe you meant ‘close loss to Vancouver’ in the first paragraph.
