MLS Week 20: Your Running Commentary

The most successful coach in MLS history takes on the hotshot new coaching sensation in a clash of generations as the Los Angeles Galaxy take on the Portland Timbers in one of tonight’s marquee MLS match-ups.

Caleb Porter and the Timbers saw their 15-match unbeaten streak snapped last week, but they will look to rebound at home against a Galaxy side that enjoyed a two-win week last week to get their own playoff push back on track.

The evening’s best match-up may be taking place in Frisco, Texas, with FC Dallas playing host to MLS-leading Real Salt Lake. FC Dallas is winless in six matches, but will look to snap that skid against an RSL side missing several starters to the Gold Cup.

Here is a rundown of tonight’s MLS schedule:

7pm- MSG- New York Red Bulls vs. Montreal Impact

7:30pm- Direct Kick- New England Revolution vs. Houston Dynamo

8:30pm- Direct Kick- Sporting Kansas City vs. Toronto FC

9pm- Direct Kick- FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake

10:30pm- Direct Kick- San Jose Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders

11pm- Direct Kick- Portland Timbers vs. Los Angeles Galaxy

The TImbers v Galaxy game is on NBCsports.

  2. Brian S. says:

Adam Moffat goal of the year. Can’t see anyone beating that. Incredible!

  3. Travis says:

lenhart with a really late tackle on traore then a fairly late on gspurning, stay classy.

  4. Travis says:

SJ getting that luck back a bit, lenhart horribly mishits his shot directly to martinez who has a very nice finish.

  5. SanFran415 says:

That’s a red card. Point blank.

Sarvas just grabbed a Portland player’s head and pushed it aside.

Seriously this Galaxy team has to be the biggest group of whiners I’ve ever seen. Jesus.

  6. SanFran415 says:

Portland fans so loud booing Toledo I can barely hear myself think.

And wow is Toledo AWFUL. Seriously. MLS on its knees for the Galaxy again. And again. And again. And again.

  7. Travis says:

So Alonso just got sent off for only talking or did that replay miss what actually happened? Is that for real?

  8. SanFran415 says:

Unless there’s evidence of a very, very naughty word from Alonso… that might be even worse than the backp@ss.

    • Travis says:

ive watched a ton of soccer and never seen a player get a straight red for a verbal thing wasnt even directed at the ref. the ref listened to lenhart of all people and pulled out the red

      • SanFran415 says:

Only thing it could be was a racial or bigoted slur to honestly earn a red.

If it was either of those things I’m fine. But if the referee just took Lenharts word that something was said… that beyond inexcusable.

        • Travis says:

he looked at the AR as well, no idea how he would help at all unless the replays completely missed something physical that happened.

  9. Travis says:

    link to

that is not a red, what a joke from that ref, he was terrible all game and that is cherry on top

  10. SanFran415 says:

Finally got the link to load on MLS site… LOL!

Man that’s a joke. Referee just made something up he thought he saw.

  11. SanFran415 says:

Holy *()*()* Toledo is out of his mind.
