With new competition in the lineup, Deshorn Brown proved again last Saturday to the Colorado Rapids that he deserves a place in the starting XI each week.

The rookie forward scored the game-winning goal in the 36th minute of the Rapids 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, powering home his seventh goal of the season and second in a three-game span. Brown’s performance on Saturday earned him the honor of SBI MLS Rookie of the Week. It’s the fourth time this season that Brown has earned this distinction.

Brown beat out teammate Shane O’Neill, Will Trapp, and Scott Caldwell for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Brown’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you in MLS Week 25?

Brown had a nice game, good goal on a beautiful chip by newcomer Vicente Sanchez. It was a nice game, Vancouver came to play & pushed hard, kudos to them as well. Rapids are off for two weeks, so finally some of those games in hand will be played and we’ll see where we land.

    • Jody says:

Good timing so Torres and Sanchez can get some practice time with the team. Sanchez has already looked impressive in his 1 1/2 games.

Brown may be leading ROY right now.

  4. 2tone says:

Pareja needs to keep Shane O’Neill at CB. Dude has a bright future their for club and country.

  5. Shane O’Neill played in a game last year, so he wouldn’t be eligible for ROY (or, I presume, Ives ROTW).

  6. Ross says:

I was at the game this Satrday. Deshorn was active and dangerous.
