It was viewed as a battle of two heavyweights. On one side was the Columbus Crew, undefeated and coming off of a potentially season-defining 90th minute winner over Seattle. On the other, Toronto FC, the big-money side who were humbled in their last contest with a 3-0 beating at the hands of Real Salt Lake.
However, unfortunately for Crew fans, it was Toronto FC whose punches found their way through. The Canadian side earned a 2-0 victory, ending the opposition’s early season run despite the absence of star striker Jermain Defoe.
It was TFC’s other big name acquisition, Michael Bradley, who led they way this time. The American international struck first with his goal in the 11th minute, leading the way for Issey Nakajima-Farran’s game-sealer in the 85th. With the victory, Toronto FC earned the bounce-back victory they so desperately needed, as well as honors as this weeks SBI MLS Team of the Week.
Toronto FC beat out FC Dallas, Colorado and the LA Galaxy for this week’s honors.
What did you think of Toronto FC’s performance? Are they truly an MLS Cup contender? Who stood out to you in MLS Week Four?
